The seminar, gathering over 60 IP crime investigators, prosecutors and private sector investigators from more than 10 countries, targeted at promoting cooperation and enforcement capabilities with an all-dimensional studies on IP protection strategies from the international perspective. The training day held subsequent to the seminar brought together over 60 frontline officers of Hong Kong Customs to share the investigative techniques and experience in IP protection and enforcement from an international dimension.

Speaking at the seminar’s opening ceremony, Mr. Andrew Ki, Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau, Hong Kong Customs said, “To counter the new challenges arising from the increasing transnational nature and fast developing technology, we call for increasing co-operation and timely exchange of intelligence among jurisdictions, the industries and relevant stakeholders. ‘United we stand, divided we fall’ is particularly applicable in our battle against the IP criminals.”

Mr. Roberto Manriquez, Intellectual Property Rights Operations Coordinator, IPR Programme, INTERPOL echoed that the events would enable IP stakeholders “to work closer together in our fight against international IP crime in the region,” and “to effectively implement a holistic long-term strategy to combat all types of IP crime in our countries.”
