Government holds public forums on strengthening copyright protection in digital environment

Date: 12/07/2010

The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) will hold a public forum on August 7 (Saturday) and 23 (Monday) to provide a platform for the community to exchange views on the Administration's refined proposals released in November 2009 on strengthening copyright protection in the digital environment.

Representatives of copyright owners, online service providers and academia as well as members of the public will be invited to attend the forums to share their views on the Administration's proposals.

"The Government is committed to maintaining a robust copyright protection regime. By providing a platform for the public and stakeholders to exchange their views, we aim to build consensus in the community on how best to meet the challenges posed by the advance in technology in this digital era," a CEDB spokesman said.

The forums will be held from 3pm to 4.30pm on August 7, and from 7pm to 8.30pm on August 23. Those interested in joining the forums can register on the CEDB website, (www.cedb.gov.hk/citb/ehtml/home.html).

More information on the forums can be found on the above website.
