Respect for Intellectual Property Rights Fun Day

Hong Kong Customs and the Intellectual Property Department participated in the “Respect for Intellectual Property Rights Fun Day” on 5 May 2019 as supporting organizations. The event was organized by the Scout Association of Hong Kong in Macpherson Playground, Mongkok with the aim to promote respect of intellectual property rights and the World Intellectual Property Day. The launching ceremony was officiated by Chief Commissioner of Scout Association of Hong Kong Mr Ng Ah Ming, Acting Commissioner of Customs and Excise Ms Louise Ho and Director of Intellectual Property Mr David Wong.

Before the Fun Day, a representative of the Hong Kong Customs attended the "Respect for Intellectual Property Rights Workshop" hosted by the Scout Association of Hong Kong as a guest speaker to introduce the enforcement of intellectual property protection. A game booth design competition with the theme of “Intellectual Property Rights Protection” was held to encourage scout members to experience the joy brought by creativity and realize the importance of respect for intellectual property rights. Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise (Intelligence and Investigation) Ms Ida Ng was invited to be a member of panel judge for game booth design competition.

Hong Kong Customs manned an array of informative and entertaining activities, including a photo-taking corner, a virtual reality experience station, exhibition zones as well as demonstrations by Customs detector dog in the event. A specially designed promotional truck co-organized by the Hong Kong Customs and the Intellectual Property Department was featured in the event which received an overwhelming response from the public. The event attracted over 2000 scout members and general public.
