IPR Badge Programme for Youth Ambassadors - No.1 Foundation Course

To mark the 10th Anniversary of the Youth Ambassadors Scheme, the Hong Kong Customs launched a brand new programme – the IPR Badge Programme, for Youth Ambassadors. The programme was made up of courses in three different levels, including the Foundation, The Advanced, and the Trainer. The Foundation course was a six-day five-night residential training camp, which took place at the Customs and Excise Training School between July 4 and 9, 2016.

Hong Kong Customs has gained full support in the organization of the programme course from the Intellectual Property Department, the Department of Justice, the Government Flying Service and the City University Apps Laboratory. The designated programme had attracted about 100 Youth Ambassadors to enroll. The tailor-made courses comprised of physical and leadership training which aimed to strengthen participants’ disciplinary mindsets and enrich their knowledge in various aspects including the intellectual property rights (IPR), the legal system of Hong Kong, the core duties of Hong Kong Customs, the updated apps to boost youngsters’ cognisant of IPR and civic knowledge; as well as a visit to the Government Flying Service. The courses enabled the Youth Ambassadors to keep abreast of the latest trend and adverse effect of online IPR infringement activities.

The Foundation course was conducted with a Passing-out Parade and an award presentation ceremony. The Director of Intellectual Property, Ms Ada Leung, was invited to be the Inspecting Officer of the parade Subsequent to the parade, an award presentation ceremony was held which was officiated by Ms Ada Keung; the Deputy Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Hermes Tang; the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Martin Hui; and the Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Excise (Intelligence and Investigation), Ms Louise Ho. Prizes and graduation certificates were presented to the outstanding participants in recognition of their efforts in the courses. In addition, Mr Tang appointed Ms Akina Fong, who has collaborated continuously with Customs for IPR publicity campaign to be the ‘Ambassador of the IPR Badge’ in the ceremony.
