“Hong Kong Heart 2014” Film Show

“Hong Kong Heart 2014” Film Show, jointly organized by the Customs & Excise Department, Intellectual Property Department and Intellectual Property Right Protection Alliance (IPRPA), was held at the Customs Headquarter Building on the evening of 12 May. We were honoured to have Ms. Lee Sau Kong, Deputy Director of Intellectual Property and Ms. Louise Ho, Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau as our officiating Guests. Some 50 Youth Ambassadors, members of IRPRA and “I-pledge” members participated in this event.

Ms. Lee Sau Kong, Ms. Louise Ho and Mr. Sam Ho from Hong Kong International Screen Association gave their welcome speeches to the audience. All of them mentioned the importance of protection of intellectual property and creative industry. Ms. Louise Ho addressed that online infringement activities will cause tremendous loss of creators and encouraged the audiences to protect intellectual property proactively.

The event was launched with the screening of 5 pieces of work of the winners of “Hong Kong Heart 2014” afterwards. The video makers aimed to show the new generation’s attitude towards current affairs and illustrate the diversified culture and human relations in Hong Kong. Besides, Mr. Anthony Lee, the Senior Teaching Fellow from the School of Design of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Poly U) shared the experience in making of the short video and addressed the importance of protecting the work by any creator.

Subsequently, the film show displayed a short video “Originality: The Lazy Pack” produced by the students of Poly U. The short video used a humourous pantomime style to define originality which is composed of seven concepts: ‘New, Self-Actualization, Insight, Infinity, Passion, Inspiration, Respect’. Mr. Eric Kwok, a Hong Kong Songs and Lyrics composer and Ms. Prudence Mak, an international reputated designer, shared their opinion on originality and their experience on the road to success. They also emphasized in the interview that protection of IPR was important to economic and social development.
