IPR Exchange Visit Between Youngsters in Hong Kong and Guangdong Province

Eighteen Youngsters from Youth Ambassadors and I Pledge departed Hong Kong for an exchange visit in Guangzhou on to enrich their understanding of the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) on 8-9 April 2015. The study tour, jointly organised by the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) and the Intellectual Property Department (IPD), aimed to promote respect for IPR and to cultivate positive values among youngsters.

Youngsters nominated by their respective uniformed youth groups, attended a selection interview with a judging panel comprising representatives from the C&ED and IPD. Eighteen of them were selected for the study tour to Guangzhou City.

During their stay in Guangzhou, the participants had dialogues with officials from Copyright Bureau of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Municipality, as well as IPR-related organizations to gain an in-depth understanding of IPR protection in the Mainland. After returning to Hong Kong, they will share their experiences with other members of their youth groups , as well as their families and friends of the importance of IPR protection to social and economic development.
