2015 Exchange Activities Between Youngsters in Hong Kong and Guangdong Province

To promote the awareness and exchange on protection and respect of intellectual property rights (IPR) between youngsters from Hong Kong and Guangdong, Hong Kong Customs and the Guangdong Copyright Bureau continued to organise various exchange activities for the youngsters from both sides.

A 26-strong delegation led by Mr. Zhang Tongying, Director of Guangdong Copyright, comprising officials from the Guangdong Province as well as the teachers and students from three secondary schools in Guangzhou, visited Hong Kong between 12th and 13th in February 2015.

Ms. Louise Ho, Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau, in her welcome speech to the delegation expressed appreciation for the staunch support of Guangdong Copyright Bureau and wished the IPR promotion and exchange programme could be progressive in the future in order to deepen the IPR understanding and strengthen the respect to IPR in the society.

The delegation first paid visit to the Customs Exhibition Gallery, Indoor Firing Range and IPR Enforcement Research Centre at the Customs Headquarters Building to have a broad overview on various Customs duties and the strategy adopted by Hong Kong Customs in combating infringement activities. Under the arrangement of Guangdong Copyright Bureau, the students from three Guangzhou Secondary School had performed a short drama in relation to protection of IPR and understood and importance of protecting IPR.

Last but not least, the delegation visited the Customs and Excise Training School (CETS) to understand the core duties of Customs while the representative from Intellectual Property Department further introduced the overall IPR protection regime in Hong Kong. Customs Officers partnered with detector dogs from Customs Detector Dog Division demonstrated their daily work to the delegation.

The fruitful two-days tour came to a successfully conclusion.
