“Ambition ‧ Fantasy” Film Show

The Customs and Excise Department, the Intellectual Property Department and the Intellectual Property Right Protection Alliance (IPRPA) jointly organized the “Ambition ‧ Fantasy” Film Show at the Customs Headquarters Building in the evening of 24 April 2014. The film show was co-officiated by Mr. Lee Hon-wah, Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau and Mr. Peter Cheung, Director of Intellectual Property. Some 100 Youth Ambassadors, members of IRPRA and “I Pledge” also participated the remarkable event.

Mr. Lee Hon-wah, Mr. Peter Cheung and Mr. Edward Neubronner of the Motion Picture Association gave their welcome speeches to the audiences, each delivering a message on the core values of protection of intellectual property. Mr. Lee also encouraged the new generation to realize their dreams with acts.

The Director, Mr. Chris Ng, the Martial Arts Director, Mr. Checkley Sin, the Actor, Mr. Tam Yiu-keung and the Actress, Ms. Rose Chan of the short video “Thought of Wining” shared their filming experiences with the audiences, and followed by the screening of 6 pieces of work from the “Hong Kong Heart” and the short video “Thought of Wining”. Apart from these, the Managing Director of the Hong Kong International Screen Association, Mr. Sam Ho hosted the discussion panel with four Youth Ambassadors from the winning team of the Drama Competition 2013. Throughout the discussion, the Youth Ambassadors deliberated the relationship between copyright and creative works. They appreciated the importance of respecting intellectual property rights so as to protect the creative works of others from any forms of infringement.

The film show continue with the short video “Using Fakes: Deal ‧ No Deal?” filmed by students of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The short video adopted a humorous pantomime style to portray the possible consequences on using fake products. Before the film show came to the end, the filmmaker of this short video shared not only their experiences with the audiences in the making of the short video but also stressed the essentialness of IPR protection to economy and social development.
