The Reward Scheme is financed by the Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI) and fully administered by the Hong Kong Customs.
Reward money shall be payable to a person providing information leading to the seizure of counterfeit or infringed trade mark pharmaceutical products of the participating Pharmaceutical Companies and arrest of any person under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, Chapter 362 in any one operation with seizure as stipulated below at the following rates in three stages.
Initial payment
- Payment of HK$1,000: information leading to seizure with market value from HK$2,000 to HK$5,000.
- Payment of HK$2,000: information leading to seizure with market value over HK$5,000 and up to HK$10,000.
- Payment of HK$3,000: information leading to seizure with market value over HK$10,000 and up to HK$50,000.
- Payment of HK$3,000 plus 5% of the market value of the seizure (the total initial reward payable should not be over HK$50,000): information leading to seizure with market value over HK$50,000.
Additional payment(1)
- Payment of HK$1,000: information leading to seizure with market value from HK$2,000 to HK$5,000 together with any successful criminal conviction under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, Chapter 362.
- Payment of HK$2,000: information leading to seizure with market value over HK$5,000 and up to HK$10,000 together with any successful criminal conviction under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, Chapter 362.
- Payment of HK$3,000: information leading to seizure with market value over HK$10,000 and up to HK$50,000 together with any successful criminal conviction under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, Chapter 362.
- Payment of HK$3,000 plus 5% of the market value of the seizure (the total additional reward payable should not be over HK$50,000): information leading to seizure with market value over HK$50,000 together with any successful criminal conviction under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, Chapter 362.
Additional payment(2)
- Additional payment of HK$10,000: would be awarded to informers who have provided information leading to seizure made at points of import or export with market value more than HK$500,000 and up to HK$1,000,000.
- Additional payment of HK$20,000: would be awarded to informers who have provided information leading to seizure made at points of import or export with market value over HK$1,000,000.
